A Simple Plan:

A Guide to Scuba Diving Equipment

If you buy the important scuba diving equipment then you can have a great scuba diving experience especially if it is your first time to do so. If you are scuba diving for the first time, then you will be needing these essential equipment.

The first equipment that you need is a scuba diving mask. Choose a mask that contours to your brows and cheekbones. There are now many designs to choose from. Since you are not trying it underwater, make sure that you simply put the mask on your face without strapping around your head. If you try your face mask see to it that there are no gaps and that air does not get inside if you try to inhale through your nose.

You will also need a snorkel. You can choose from many snorkel designs. Buy a snorkel mouthpiece that fits comfortably in your mouth. Make sure that it attaches strongly to your mask. The size of your snorkel is also important. You get more drag in the water with a large snorkel and you dont hold much air with a small one if you will dive underwater with it.

Another important gear is a pair of flippers or fins. Buying this is just like buying a pair of shoes. Choose flippers that are comfortable to your feet. If you have strong thigh muscles, then you can use large fins. If the fins are too big for you then you can have muscle fatigue over time and you cannot dive as long.

You can keep your body heat while you dive by wearing a wetsuit. Your body can be insulated from very cold waters since they are made of neoprene rubber or spandex. A well fitting wetsuit is important to keep the water out. Getting wet would mean your body heat will transfer into the water. The wetsuit should have wrist, ankle, and collar seals to prevent water from entering. A proper seal is also created by flaps behind zippers. Wetsuits are expensive but you can get it at a bargain if you buy it from a used gear shop.

If you are going scuba diving, then you will need life support equipment. A vest called BC is important to hold your tank and help you float to the surface with their buoyant pieces of foam. If you release air or fill the vest with air through the valves it will help you to sink or rise to the surface. These are expensive but they can be used for many long years.

You also, need a regulator. Pressurized air into the tank is converted into breathable air through the regulator.

Scuba diving tags can help you identify your equipment when there are a lot of other people on a boat with you. A scuba luggage tag can identify your equipment when there is a large group with you.
